Food Education

Redlands, California Chef Lee Burton is partial to sponges in his cooking, but not the kind used for cleaning the kitchen.
"I love teaching cooking to little kids because they are like sponges," he said. "They absorb everything you show and tell them." Burton has made a priority of educating the community about food, especially the Slow Food movement and the benefits of healthy cooking and eating. When local Chef Lee Burton left his corporate marketing job he knew he was being led onto a different path. That path brought him to embrace his biggest passion — cooking. But what he didn't expect was the impact he would make to the lives of young children catering in the Redlands community. Many nonprofits in the area have also sought out Burton for help and support. He is often seen catering fundraising efforts around town, and donating a special dinner as an auction item to help reel in monetary donations for organizations from a myriad of media. His dinners often fetch thousands, which is always a surprise! Contact Chef Lee to get more information. |
